Have you ever sat deep in thought asking God why me? Asking him why did he choose you to go through something? Wondering about the whole purpose should cause you to seek him more for his guidance. Seek his word through prayer and studying his word. You will find the answers to questions you may not have even thought to ask.

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Luke 11:9-10
