You’re Not Hard to Love, You’re Just Learning to Receive It

So many women silently carry the belief that they are hard to love, when really, they are just unlearning the lies pain once taught them. Are you silently carrying the belief that you are hard to love? Being in toxic relationships can train your brain to think that you are unworthy of love.

When love was inconsistent, conditional, or tied to performance, it trained you to expect pain where care should be. Growing up in a household where adults taught you to make sure that everyone else was good before yourself. Just watching the relationship dynamics shaped your view and beliefs. Or being in an intimate relationship where your partner was in control. If you did not do what they wanted they gave you the silent treatment or worse.

You are not too much; you’ve just had to carry too much alone for too long. And that weight was not yours to bear. You have been living your life in fight or flight mode. Being on guard constantly, trying to keep the peace.

Learning to receive love starts with believing you deserve it. And this comes after you have given yourself the love that you deserve first. Teaching yourself what love is by studying the word. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians13:4 Love is patient, and love is kind. Learn to accept a compliment. Be accepting when someone offers to help you. Allow others to be kind to you.

You were never hard to love, just still healing the part of you that forgot she was lovable all along. From this moment on know that you are worthy of love. You are beautiful. You are smart. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14.
